Questions from the authors

Your company - the undeniable leader of the world market. We know how difficult it makes even small successes, but you managed to achieve fantastic popularity. Hard work or luck?
Making high quality model car is the same as conducting an large orchestra to play a classical music, there are many highly qualified musician involving in the playing of the music and each one of them have gone through long time of hard practices before they could joined the band. Most important of all, it is the conductor leading the group to decide if a music can be played well or not. There is no luck involved in the manufacturing of a model car, same as classical music, it is all about hard work and the coordination of the workers in the factory.
Being the market leader it is very difficult. This implies a permanent work and a desire for something more, to new technologies and ideas. What's new offers your company this year? What technological innovations do you suggest? What are the latest brilliant ideas have AUTOart? What new elements of details we see in the future? Will an employee suspension? There is very little new technology involves in the making of model cars. Everything is literally hand made. Our new challenges are mainly trying to replicate the model car as close as possible to the features of the real car, such as the case of Koenigsegg’s opening doors, which is a very challenging feature on a small scale model, and the using of the actual hand polished cast aluminium material to a make the body of Cobra concept car.
Today we are experiencing an economic crisis - the big difficulties in all. We noticed that you've raised the prices of new models - this is due to the cost of necessary materials or something different? Will prices continue to climb? Have plans for the future issues?
We have to raise the prices, so as other model producers, mainly due to the sky rocketing labor cost in China which has been doubled in the course of four years. Each of our model car involved with several hundreds pairs of young Chinese workers before it is being conceived. Luckily the material and energy cost have gone down a lot due to the financial crisis although the labor cost is continuing to increase gradually, we are able to maintain the present pricing for a while. In any case, despite the present high price, the actual model we are producing deserve an even higher price considering the amount of effort, labor, investment and timing needed to produce the product.
How do you choose a decent prototype for a model? Who is this, what are the study? Tell us in detail how to create a new model. What is the volume of production, took a hand job?
The subject decision is mainly from the request of the dealers and collectors in the region. Each region has its own preference especially for countries which have a long historical car culture such as Italy, Germany, UK, USA and Japan. We produce from several thousands up to several tens of thousands each subject depending on the demand and variations we can make.
Look at today's market: models 30-50 years of 20 century is very primitive. Why you do not release these models? It is not profitable, do not need you or are only in the plans for the future?
Classic models before the 1950’s will have a very limited market because the people who have actually seen or touch the car is very few. If they don’t have a personal feeling about the cars, the chances of selling the model will be very few. These kinds of subjects are only workable for a super high priced models or hand made resin/white metal models usually produce in small quantity for selective buyers.
We noticed that you do not make models of Ferrari. Difficulties in acquiring the license, or your policy decision? What new licenses for the edition of models you're planning to buy this and next year?
Ferrari die cast model license is exclusive to Mattel up to a certain price point. Recently, Mattel is withdrawing the sub-licensing deals with Kyosho and IXO, so nobody is able to produce die cast Ferrari models unless the model is super expansive, such as BBR’s 1:18 or models made by resin, white metal or plastic which are out of Mattel’s contract area. All of these options are not for us to follow.
In recent times, we see no strong leaps in the quality of your models. They are - beautiful, very high quality made. But there is a development of technology, they are all on one level, there is no growth in quality. Why so?
Any upgrading of quality requires extra labor cost which ultimately increases the selling price. Our present pricing is already quite high for normal collectors; we do not intend to raise the quality for our average lineup except one or two of our Signature series such as the Nissan Skyline Gr. 5 which will be releasing in the market with a retail price of around US$200.
Now talk about a classic American cars. The whole world is waiting for them from you. It is up to you, because the quality of models on the market low, and you assotsiiruetes with quality. Wait we automobiles 50-70-80 years? If so, how long?
We do have limited American modern classic models launching from time to time mainly in the Corvette and Mustang series. American market is very price conscious, if the model is over US$100 in retail, the chances of selling are minimal. Most American modern classic models have been done by somebody else and there is little space for the same model in high quality.
Many wondered: why have you produced a model with monolithic buildings? What is the meaning of this edition of the model and what the prospect of such a series?
The main reason of producing models with no opening is that most modern racing cars do not allow us to take photo and measurement of their engine, suspension and interior due to the highly competitive status in between the racing teams so all these areas are their closely guarded secrets. Nobody produce modern Formula 1 model with opening of engine because no photo is allowed. The most important features of a racing model car are the shape and the exterior detailing. In fact, it can be more expansive to produce a model with no opening but with a lot of through-holes and fins as compared to a simple racing model car with openings.
Many older models are still very desirable for collectors. Will such a model produced again? Is it their issue with some changes in the quality of?
Some older models will be re-produced for sure depending on our capacity and some of them will have an upgrade in the quality level.
You are very good colors model. Why is the main colors are black, white and red (not all models, but some parts of them)? Will there be any new shades?
Black colour body is a difficult colour to be achieved in good quality because black colour reflects all the roughness of a body surface. Only when the surface is painstaking polished and refined a nice black colour painted body can be achieved. Autoart has probably the best black colour models in the market. The other colours are usually under the request by the car makers or the history of the actual car sales.
Now we'll talk about the rally models. Will soon issued cars 40-70 years who participated in the European races?
Rally models are getting less and less popular because there are fewer teams participating the events. We will decrease our effort in producing rally models.
